Description:
The Manufacturing Engineer coordinates the flow of materials through assigned plants through the support and implementation of lean principles, including outsourcing as a result of make/buy decisions. This role determines cost effective methods of manufacturing and design enhancements resulting in gross margin improvement. This position also processes information provided from the QNF system for possible procedural or design changes for improved quality.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Guide engineering and production in the creation and implementation of lean design changes that improve manufacturability of parts.
Provide a link between production and new product engineering on product launches to ensure expectations are met.
Understand customer need and what is required to build quality into a product the first time. Provide feedback to internal and external customers.
Supervise assigned personnel in performance of their duties such that performance exceeds or meets expectations. Assist in achieving individual and team goals which are aligned with the Organization's business strategies and objectives.
Initiate standardization of methods, processes and design features. Analyze machine utilization and recommend changes as needed.
Manage scrap reduction efforts and document and understand product cost and gross margin opportunities.
Review and direct ECN releases for production.
Formulate documentation and sharing of best practices, produce plant layouts to improve flow of material and people, and direct Expect the Best design print changes for assigned plants.
